Share trading is a step towards early retirement

Robert Benkovic’s Share Trading Story - April 2007

When 32 year old Robert Benkovic, an oil and gas engineer reflects on the past 5 years of his life he describes the experience as phenomenal.

Since learning how to design his own mechanical share trading systems his trading success has gone through the roof.  Just last year he doubled his money trading shares.

If this success rate continues then it’s likely retirement could be closer around the corner than he ever thought possible.

When Benkovic left university he dabbled in the stock market buying and selling speculative stocks.  He took a few big losses and then went looking for further education.  It was Australia’s biggest financial market educator, HomeTrader, where he learnt the skills that have helped him to achieve his sharing trading success. This success did require some patience as Benkovic spent the first 12 months of his HomeTrader education doing the courses, going to coaching sessions and then doing manual backtesting to ensure his systems were profitable.

Trading mechanical systems appeals to Benkovic because it is methodical and trading decisions are made without emotion.  Trading 3 systems in tandem, Benkovic trades both Contracts for Difference (CFDs) and equities.

Benkovic said, “While trading CFDs results in a higher percentage return, leverage does scare people off.” Benkovic also managers his own superannuation fund which is growing strongly using a trend following equities system. Share trading has provided Benkovic with a pathway to financial freedom and money to do the things he loves doing most.
