Engineering the Share Market

HomeTrader Media Release,27 June 2007

Engineers are proving to be some of the most successful share traders according to one of Australia’s largest financial market educators.

Figures released today by Perth based company, HomeTrader, reveal that engineers are one of the more popular and profitable share trading professions.

HomeTrader Managing Director, Jason Davis said, “Engineers are substantially over represented amongst our client base and even more so amongst our most successful members.  Technical share trading involves statistics and numbers which is a fundamental part of an engineers’ professional training.”

Davis is recognised as an expert in quantitative trading strategy design and is often a guest speaker at share trading conferences internationally.  Davis has been responsible for providing profitable edges to many CFD traders.

When 32 year old, Robert Benkovic, an oil and gas engineer based in Perth, reflects on the past five years of his life he describes the experience as phenomenal.  Since learning how to design his own technical share trading systems his trading success has gone through the roof.  Just last year he doubled his money trading shares.

When Benkovic left university he dabbled in the stock market buying and selling speculative stocks.  He took a few big losses and then went looking for further education.  Benkovic spent the first 12 months of his HomeTrader education attending the courses, going to coaching sessions and then doing manual backtesting to ensure his systems were profitable.

Trading mechanical systems appeals to Benkovic because it is methodical and trading decisions are made based on statistical analyses.  Trading three systems in tandem, Benkovic trades both Contracts for Difference (CFDs) and equities.

Share trading has provided Benkovic with a pathway to financial freedom and money to do the things he loves doing most.
